OH YES I should probably announce this somewhere so people who are not the people I whine on OOCly will know too.

I-I know I just got off a semi-hiatus a week-ish ago (PLEASE FORGIVE ME, MODS ;o;), but next week is the week before spring break! That would ordinarily be very YAY, except that I have tests and big assignments due for more than half my classes next week. Booooooo :( Since I need to do well, I'm declaring a mostly/probably/hitmeifIdon'tstudy hiatus from now until I get back to the West Coast on Friday evening.

I have a list of seven characters I currently play, they are listed 1-7 in no particular order. Ask me questions using the numbers 1-7 and after I get a few questions I'll go through and answer them using the character listed to each number.

For Example! "What would happen if 7 kissed 3?" or "Death battle between 1, 3, and 5, who wins?

So this Thanksgiving, instead of spending money on airfare for three-ish days at home, I'm just staying with family friends in the area. I may or may not have regular internet access there, though, and even if I do, I should probably be starting to study for finals so I don't get as raped when they come. Theeerefore, possible semi-hiatus to total hiatus from Wednesday afternoon to Sunday afternoon/evening.

I will probably make up for this by doing nothing productive Monday and Tuesday and trying to play a lot. |D;

Going on a church retreat this Friday through Sunday, which means no internet unless I beg my dad to let me check my email for a few minutes.

After four years, Hisoka thought he was finally getting used to life--or death, however you wanted to look at it--as a Shinigami. He thought that after all that time, nothing about his co-workers could faze him. And even if they were too loud and didn't seem to understand the meaning of the word "quiet," he grudgingly admitted that he'd grown fond of them. Most of time, anyway, and as long as he could escape to the library occasionally.

But now, sitting in the Chief's office and being informed of Watari's latest experiment, an uneasy feeling begin to crawl up his spine. And as the distant sounds of squealing and pounding feet drew closer to the office, Hisoka realized that he'd been wrong about getting used to it. Very wrong.

Diving for the window, Hisoka escaped just as Saya and Yuma crashed into the room.

"Hisoka-kuuuuun, won't you try this dress on for us~?"

"And this one, too! I think the frills will go nicely with your hair! ♥"

"...where'd he go?"

"Darn, he must have escaped."

"He can't have gone far though~"

"You're right! After him, girls~!"

Chattering happily amongst themselves, the mob of accidentally cloned fangirls gave chase.

I apologize in advance for how much I may be butchering Kazahaya, Rikuou, and Tsuzuki's characters. This is also not a drabble anymore, but eh.


The training session itself was nothing new. Kazahaya and Hisoka sat facing each other in a clearing, snapping at their partners whenever they said or did anything to disrupt their concentration. Tsuzuki and Rikuou would quiet down briefly after each scolding, only to start up again soon after, trying to distract themselves from their worry and their feeling of helplessness.

"I'm hungry," Kazahaya announced after they finished, getting to his feet. "I'm going to get something to eat from the Mess Hall."

"Not by yourself you aren't," Rikuou smirked, catching up to the shorter boy. "You'd probably get lost on the way and starve to death."

"Jerk," Kazahaya shot back, making a face at his partner.

As always, Tsuzuki brightened at the mention of food. "Ooh, let's go get food too, Hisoka!" he said, puppy ears and tail practically visible as he bounced around his partner.

"Fine, you glutton," the object of his attention agreed with a disgruntled sigh, still grumbling about Tsuzuki's appetite as they followed the other two. In the middle of bickering with Kazahaya, Rikuou looked back and snickered to himself as he looked between the two sets of partners.

"What's so funny?" Kazahaya demanded, scowling at him. Behind him, Hisoka and Tsuzuki also stopped arguing over how much Tsuzuki ate, giving him questioning looks.

"Oh, nothing," Rikuou replied, attempting to look innocent despite the devilish grin pulling at his lips. "Just that we look like we're on a double date."

As Tsuzuki considered his words and Kazahaya and Hisoka yelled and looked for anything throwable, Rikuou decided it had been a great afternoon.

Work makes me productive, apparently.

Right, so, this is the essay I promised Tsuzuki-mun...well, a long time ago. However, since I'm prone to tangents, this is not just an essay on what Tsuzuki means to Hisoka. This is because I think that in order to understand that, it's necessary to first know about Hisoka's background and how that affects his personality, worlview, and relationship with Tsuzuki. Then I figured hey, might as well write about how that affects his relationships with other people too! And lo, this monster was born.

Different parts of this essay are cut for your viewing pleasure, since I'm sure no one actually wants to read my rambling the whole way through. Kurosaki Hisoka
Age: physically 16, mentally 18
Gender: Male
Height: Unknown, but a little shorter than average, I'd say. He's shorter than all the males in his canon, but they're also older than him. He's about the same height as or slightly taller than the girls.
Weight: No idea, but he's scrawny.
Birthdate: 10/18/1980 (canon is set in about 1998)
Blood Type: AB
Occupation: Shinigami

2. Canon explanation stuff:

From app: Hisoka had a rather shitty childhood: when his old-fashioned parents found out that he was an empath (capable of reading people's emotions and occasionally their thoughts and memories), they called him a monster and locked him in the basement. Then, when he was 13, he was raped and cursed to die a slow, painful death by Muraki, all for having the bad timing to witness Muraki murdering someone. When he finally died at 16, Hisoka became a Shinigami.

Shinigami are ex-dead people who travel freely between the world of the living and the dead in order to bring dead people's souls to trial. They're also in charge of investigating mysterious deaths aka murders. Basically, they're kind of like the Grim Reapers from Dead Like Me except more magical, angstier, and you know, gayer. As a Shinigami, Hisoka gains the ability to fly, use ofuda magic, and to heal quickly. He also acquires a somewhat scatterbrained partner named Tsuzuki (who he really cares about, honest. The bitching is just his way of showing his love), but that's neither here nor there.

Hisoka is understandably bitter, sarcastic, and anti-social due to his past and the fact that his empathic powers mean he doesn't do well in crowds (touch amplifies his powers). However, even though he can be short-tempered, he has a kind heart, although he'd rather die again than admit that he cares. He's also fairly polite unless he doesn't like you, in which case he has a very foul mouth. Thus, he can be described as "bitter and well-bred snark with a squishy creme filling."

(App note: Hisoka can also "synchronize" with people, usually by touching them. This can cause him to share their mind and/or powers, although it usually overwhelms him.)

3. What skills or powers does your character have? In particular, list any skills or powers that could be used in a combat situation.

I wrote a post about his powers shortly after he arrived at camp here, which goes over his powers as well as the ones a regular Shinigami has. Hooray.

...what? >> But really, if he's spoken to you for more than a few comments (wry Rin wry), he's at the very least neutral toward you and probably leaning toward like. If he snarks or angsts at you, you're higher on the list. If he's smiled at you (all two of you), you win. But you still don't beat Tsuzuki.
